For Shopify merchants & app developers
E2E + Visual Testing for Shopify Apps & Themes.
Test your store before Shopify's update breaks it.
You tweak a Liquid template. A new Checkout Extensibility version drops. Your A/B test variant collides with a SKU change. Three days later you find out checkout has been silently 404'ing. Lastest gives Shopify merchants and App Bridge developers real visual + E2E tests in 5 minutes.

Why Not Just Click Through Your Store?
Theme updates ship every week. You can't click through them all.
Shopify pushes Theme Editor changes, Checkout Extensibility versions, and App Bridge updates on its own schedule. Your products move through SKU changes, sales, and A/B variants on yours. Two ways to keep up, and only one actually holds.
Click through PDP → cart → checkout before every release.
You open the storefront, pick a product, add to cart, run a Bogus Gateway checkout, check the order email. Then you do it again on mobile. Then with the discount code. Then with the bundle. You forget the international currency variant. That's the one that breaks tomorrow when Shopify ships a Checkout Extensibility patch.
- Theme updates ship silently - checkout breaks before you click
- SKU changes hide products - DOM tests pass, the PDP is empty
- A/B variants collide - one wins, the other 500s
- You skip it the week you're tired - that's the week it breaks
Use Lastest. Record once. Replay forever.
Click through the flows you care about (collection → PDP → cart → Checkout Extensibility → thank-you) once. Lastest captures them as deterministic Playwright with a visual baseline. Every theme push, every Shopify update, every SKU change replays the full suite. Zero tokens. Zero maintenance.
- Works on Liquid themes and headless storefronts
- Tests Checkout Extensibility flows end-to-end
- Visual diffs catch what the DOM hides - 3 engines
- App Bridge friendly - embedded admin app flows too
- $0 forever - self-host or use the free hosted tier
Built for Shopify Workflows
Theme. Checkout. App Bridge. All covered.
Two features that matter when Shopify is shipping updates on its own schedule.
01 · Record
Click PDP → cart → checkout. That's the test.
Open the recorder, paste your my-store.myshopify.com URL or custom domain, walk through a real purchase using Shopify's Bogus Gateway, hit stop. Lastest captures every interaction, including Checkout Extensibility blocks and Liquid section toggles, as deterministic Playwright code.
- Works on storefront, checkout, and embedded App Bridge admin pages
- Captures discount code, currency switcher, and shipping rate flows
- Multi-step screenshots so SKU/inventory state is visible per run

02 · Visual diff
Did Shopify's last Theme Editor update shift the “Buy” button?
Liquid templates re-render on every theme update. Tailwind-style class names shuffle. Section blocks re-order. DOM-only tests pass while the PDP is visually broken. Lastest compares screenshots with three diff engines so a 4px shift on the “Add to Cart” button shows up before a customer ever sees it.
- Auto-mask cart count, prices, and rotating product badges
- Branch-to-branch compare for theme staging vs published
- Approve or reject visual changes with a one-click slider

Common questions for Shopify apps
- Why is Shopify especially prone to silent visual regressions?
- Theme settings, app installs, Liquid template overrides, and section reorders all stack on top of each other. A single app install can shift the cart drawer, hide the “Add to Cart” button, or break checkout on mobile. Lastest captures a visual baseline so future installs surface as one-click-reviewable diffs.
- Will Lastest test the Shopify checkout?
- For Plus stores with checkout extensions: yes, fully. For non-Plus stores where checkout is hosted by Shopify, Lastest records the flow up to and including the success page redirect, so your customizable surfaces stay covered.
- Can it test custom theme apps and embedded admin apps?
- Yes. Theme app extensions render as part of the storefront DOM and are tested like any other element. Embedded admin apps (Polaris) are recorded the same way; Lastest works with iframes.
- Does it work with Hydrogen / headless Shopify?
- Yes. Hydrogen storefronts are React apps Lastest tests at any URL. Storefront API responses surface as DOM changes the runner waits for.
- What about Shopify Markets / international storefronts?
- Record one flow per market URL; Lastest replays each independently. Currency symbols, translations, and locale-specific layouts each get their own baseline.
- What does it cost?
- Zero. Open source, self-hosted, unlimited replays. Pairs cleanly with a Shopify dev store for a $0 test environment.
